- Higalaay Festival Carnival Street Parade on August 25 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The parade will start at the corner of J. Luna – Velez St. and end at the Rodela Circle in Barangay Nazareth.
- Float and Civil Military Parade on August 27 from 7:00 AM to noontime. The parade will start at the Rodelsa Circle, traverse Velez St. and C.M. Recto Avenue, and end at the Limketkai Commercial Center.
- Religious Procession of the Festival of Saint Augustine on August 28 from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The procession will start at the Fernandez St. near the Saint Augustine Cathedral, proceed to Corrales Avenue, Neri St., Capistrano St., and end at the Saint Augustine Cathedral.
The Miss Cagayan de Oro candidates of 2014 will be meeting up with the press or media people and will be presented to the Kagay-anons during the celebration of our city’s Charter Day. Read the Press Release below for more information.
The 12 official candidates of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2014 will finally be presented to the Public and Local media and bloggers on Sunday as part of the City Government’s celebration of the Charter Day, 4pm at Limketkai Rotunda.
This batch of candidates are considered to be a battle of title holders: two are previous winners of Miss Kauswagan, a reigning Miss Lapasan, last year’s Miss PRISAA, another one who represented the City to the 2014 Miss Bikini Philippines in Manila and one candidate- a recent winner of a local beauty contest of a hair product. Others are also beauty title holders outside Cagayan de Oro.
The organizers, JCI Bai Lawanen headed by JCI Sen. Gean Tulang-Cesar and JCI Sen. Gigi Go has adequately prepared the candidates to face the local media as the Darling of the Press candidate will be chosen on Sunday. They have been through a series of seminars on News and Current events, speech and grammar including Personality development and runway coaching.
There will be a mini fashion show featuring the collections from island Souvenir, Natasha, Ororama and MAGS. The event will also launch the Miss Flawlessly U campaign which will be done for the first time this year. This will be hosted by Ms. Grey Mendoza, Miss CDO 2012 and special participation by the Next Moves Dance Company.

THE SEARCH FOR MISS CAGAYAN DE ORO 2014 IS ON

The organizing committee of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2014 is now announcing the official screening dates for potential official candidates of this year’s beauty pageant- hailed as the biggest search for beauty and brains in this part of Mindanao.
Screening dates will be on April 12, 26 and May 2, 2014 from 1pm to 6pm at The VIP Hotel. For interested ladies, you must be at least 5ft and 5 inches tall, a full time student from any reputable school with minimum 2yrs residency in the Cagayan de Oro, may be a professional and between 18-25 years old. Born or has origin in the City and never been married. All candidates are subject to background check once they pass the screening process. The organizers are looking for a lady who is not just articulate and has pleasing personality but with a good sense of maturity, sensibility and admirable appreciation of her culture. Upon screening, she is required to submit filled up screening form, barangay or school clearance, birth certificate and various photos.
Miss Cagayan de Oro beauty search is considered to be one of the biggest highlights of the Kagay-an Festival in the month of August, as all of its side events and pageant night could gather thousands of expectators and audience. Aside from cash prize and freebies waiting for the winning candidate, she will also get the chance to experience the adventure, trainings, workshops and travels that the organizing committee has consistently prepared for all the candidates.
Miss Amadea Piatti, Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013 will finally turn over the crown on August 23, 2014 during the Pageant Night at the Limketkai Atrium-the home of Miss Cagayan de Oro beauty search.
This year, the City Government thru the City Tourism Board under the guidance from its Chairperson Mdm Dorothy Jean Pabayo, Kagay-an Festival Chairperson Eileen Escobar-San Juan and Tourism Board member/ Pageant Head Ms. Gean Tulang-Cesar, is highly anticipating that we can finally deploy a candidate for National pageants who is both willing and highly committed to go through the tough competition. Miss Cagayan de oro 2014 will be mounted this year with production assistance from JCI Bai Lawanen- the same organization who spearheaded the pageant last year.
This is one of the reasons that Kagay-anons are looking forward every year. It is also one of the biggest events during the Kagay-an festival.
Another year had passed for the Miss Cagayan de Oro 2012. To the lovely ladies who’ve won the crown and other awards last year, your mission doesn’t end here. You can still help other people as well as being beautiful in your own ways.

Kumbira 2013 is on its 17th year to date and it’s happening on August 14-16, 2013 (3 days) at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City. It’s dubbed as the longest running culinary show and has helped promote the local food service industry to world class standards. It is a professional and student culinary show and live competition that promotes healthy competition and camaraderie with different hotels and restaurants and schools. It is showcasing many activities like food and beverages competitions, trade exhibits, seminars and many more!
The theme for this year is “Negosyo Kulinarya – Building Home-grown Brands“. It will showcase the local products of Cagayan de Oro and Northern Mindanao, as well as promote them to the country and eventually, worldwide.
KUMBIRA also showcases the talents of the chefs and food service personnel from the different hotels and restaurants in Mindanao. Students also participate in the culinary festival and live competitions lending inspiration to these budding talents. Another year of glamour and beauty is coming very soon as the City Tourism Board of Cagayan de Oro is holding screenings for possible official candidates for Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013.
Screening dates will be on April 27 at Rhapsody Suites and May 4 at VIP Hotel. Both screening dates will be from 2pm to 6pm. Registration form is available at the Facebook Fanpage of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013.
This year, the biggest beauty pageant of the City will embrace the history and culture of the City thru its modern take of the Filipiniana. Mdm. Rhia Rita Y. Abalos, Chairperson of the Tourism Board says, ” We will bring the quality of our pageant production higher especially that we received positive feedback from our sponsors and the public on the amazing production we did last year.”
For those who are qualified to join, you must be at least 5’5ft inches tall, born or has origin in the City or has been living in the city for at least a year as a student or as a professional.
