Another year of glamour and beauty is coming very soon as the City Tourism Board of Cagayan de Oro is holding screenings for possible official candidates for Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013.

Screening dates will be on April 27 at Rhapsody Suites and May 4 at VIP Hotel. Both screening dates will be from 2pm to 6pm. Registration form is available at the Facebook Fanpage of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013.

This year, the biggest beauty pageant of the City will embrace the history and culture of the City thru its modern take of the Filipiniana. Mdm. Rhia Rita Y. Abalos, Chairperson of the Tourism Board says, ” We will bring the quality of our pageant production higher especially that we received positive feedback from our sponsors and the public on the amazing production we did last year.”

For those who are qualified to join, you must be at least 5’5ft inches tall, born or has origin in the City or has been living in the city for at least a year as a student or as a professional.

The winner will receive cash prize as much as P75 thousand pesos and a lot of gift items from the pageant’s valued sponsors. This event is a heavily supported by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro and Regional Office of Department of Tourism. (Cagayan de Oro City Tourism Board)

LUNA: because the festival begins on a full moon, the force that allows for life on this planet and lights up the dark night.

MUSIKA: because music is the great communicator that breaks barriers of language, ethnicity and religion.

KALAWAIG: The name of the river that runs through the venue. In higaonon, the tribal language on what once was their territory it means ‘water for the thirsty’. It is tradition to always pay tribute to the river as it can be both the giver of life or the force that takes it away.

It’s the 2nd year of Luna Musikalawaig under the Summer Peace Festival theme has opens its doors at Ki Bathala gardens.  The venue is a 40-minute ride from Cagayan de Oro City and it is a protected jungle and organic farm at Sitio Balaon, Brgy. San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon.  The 1st leg of the festival will happen on April 26 until the 28th and will be heading to the 2nd leg at Zamboanga City where the Paz Musika Del Mar will be happening on April 30 to May 1, 2013.

The event will be more embellished by bands like Siri Svegler from Sweden, Isa Tabasuares & Thomas Walter from Berlin, Sinyma (Nyko Maca’s new band) from Manila, Purple Kush from Cebu, The Mush Project from Barcelona, Ruska fromCagayan de Oro, Crowns Down fromButuan City, The Mo from Malaybalay and many more. Artists like Talaandig Tribe Installation, Agnes Arellano from Manila Installation, Rene Kiefer from Builder, Kit Gresos from Butuan, Rhyan Casino from CDO, Fadi Ismail from CDO, Mike Bacol from CDO, will make the event extra special by showcasing their unique artistry.

The concept of the festival is to simply spread the message of peace to all people, peace to the environment and peace with own self.  There are Onsite day activities such as Fishing, Yoga, Flow Camp, Swimming in the River, Drumming, and Bonfire.  You can also enjoy the Offsite activities like White Water Rafting, Pinoy Rafting, and Spelunking.  Kids and Teens Activities included are One Happy Story’s Outdoor Photography, Viajero Outdoor Team’s Junior Survival Skills, Cosplay by Cause Play, Poi for Kids, Traditional outdoor games workshop, Knot Tying, Soil Painting, and Make your own TIE DYE shirts.

There will be pick up schedules for jeepneys that depart from CDO going to the venue, please check the image above. Please prepare Php 75 as the jeepney fare (one way fee). For those who will be bringing their own car, you can take the Masterson Avenue for 40 minutes until you see the Luna Musikalawaig Marker.  There will be food and drinks at reasonable prices.  Also, security guards will be assigned per location with the help from the Philippines National Police and Philippines Army.  This goes to show that Safety is the number priority for the event.

Baby Rusver F. Mabalos, born on January 6, 2013 and have never left the hospital since then due to his condition. He is diagnosed with Omphalocele – a type of abdominal wall defect in which the intestines, liver, and occasionally other organs remain outside of the abdomen in a sac because of a defect in the development of the muscles of the abdominal wall (exomphalos). 

I have also friends from ROTA, a trekking and mountaineering group, that organized a “Trek & Treat” event for Baby Rusver last March 09, 2013 at Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro.

And now, there will be a “Dance for an Angel” event by MOGCHS Alumni Association batch ’96. This will be a fitness for a cause project especially for Baby Rusver. Please see the image below for the event.
